One of the newest restaurants in town is Texas de Brazil. They feature an “all-you-can-eat” evening, but it is hardly your run of the mill buffet. It’s not a buffet at all. You walk in and are taken to your seat by the host, given an introduction to the restaurant and then you are free to visit what they call the salad area. It is not like any salad bar you have ever seen, and if you are not careful you will fill up before the next part of the meal.

What makes this restaurant very different is that you will see servers walking between the tables carrying carving knives and large skewers of anything from Brazilian sausages and bacon wrapped chicken breasts to pork tenderloin and fillet mignon. You place your little card green side up at the table and the servers will come around offering you what they have, fresh from the fire. They provide each person that is dining with a little pair of tongs with which you catch your serving of meat as the server carves it there at your table. It’s a carnivore’s utopia. When you can’t take another single bite, you turn the card over displaying the red side.

My husband, son, friends and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. I savored a coconut caipirinha with my salad and finished the evening off with an espresso martini.
