The story of Texas de Brazil begins in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Living the cattle rancher’s life and feasting in the traditional rodizio style native to this region, one of the partners had visions of bringing this culture north to the United States. The unique concept offers diners a parade of meats and an extravagant seasonal salad area – Brazilian “churrascaria” style. After years of hoping and dreaming, this rodizio vision became a reality. The destination of choice was no other than the cattleman’s land … Texas.

Settling in Texas, it was apt that this unique style brought from Brazil be combined with the hospitality that is indigenous to the lone star state. Combining the culture and feast of Brazil with the service and class of the states, Texas de Brazil Brazilian Steakhouse emerged.

Texas de Brazil is family owned and operated and continues to expand both domestically and internationally to bring the Brazilian Steakhouse dining experience to new and exciting geographical locations.

The history of Texas de Brazil

1998
Addison – Texas de Brazil, a family-owned and operated business opened its first location in Addison, TX in Oct. 1998. The concept is the first of its kind to feature the traditional Brazilian concept of churrasco cooking with the generous spirit and hospitality Texas is known for.

1999
Dallas — Following the first location, Texas de Brazil quickly opened a second location in uptown Dallas, a perfect fit in the city’s vibrant and growing dining scene.

2000
Fort Worth- The opening of a 3rd location in downtown Fort Worth provided the perfect addition to this meat-loving “Cowtown.”

2001
Texas de Brazil was awarded the “A1 Service” award by widely recognized Zagat Survey.

2002
Memphis, Aruba –The company opened locations in downtown Memphis and ventured into international waters with a location in Palm Beach, Aruba.

2004
Miami, Orlando –Recognizing the growth potential in Florida, Texas de Brazil opened a 5th location at Miami’s Dolphin Mall as well as on International Drive in Orlando-both of which are popular tourist destinations, particularly with international visitors.

2005
Schaumburg –Texas de Brazil opened an 8th location in the northwestern Chicago suburb of Schaumburg in the regionally popular Woodfield Mall.

2005
Wine Spectator “Award of Excellence” & Zagat Survey “America’s Top Restaurants” – Also in 2005, Texas de Brazil was fortunate to receive the coveted Wine Spectator “Award of Excellence.” Texas de Brazil’s extensive wine list features wines from all over the world as well as a special emphasis on South American varietals that pair perfectly with the restaurants seasoned meats. The company also received another top award from Zagat Survey.

2006
Denver, Richmond –Texas de Brazil opened the Denver location in the newly redeveloped Stapleton neighborhood, while the Richmond location opened in Regency Square Mall.

Fairfax, Miami Beach – In early 2007, Texas de Brazil opened its 11th location in the Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, VA, right outside of the DC metro area. The Miami Beach location at the marina followed in late 2007 with sweeping marina views and an extended bar/lounge area uniquely named “Beijos Lounge.” “Beijos is Portuguese for “kisses”.

Las Vegas, Chicago, Baton Rouge –In 2008, Texas de Brazil opened its largest location yet in downtown Chicago, just off Michigan Ave. This extravagant location also featured the first-of-its kind: aerial wine artists. These unique performers engage in gymnastic aerial tumbles and flips while they retrieve bottles of wine ordered by onlookers and diners below in a massive 2-story wine cellar. The custom-made flying system allows the artist to control their own vertical, horizontal and 360 degree rotating movements.

The Las Vegas location opened in the new Town Square entertainment and shopping center on Las Vegas Blvd. while the Baton Rouge location opened in the brand new Perkins Rowe mixed use development.

2009
Hallandale Beach- Furthering its expansion into Florida, Texas de Brazil opened the Hallandale Beach location at the newly opened Villages at Gulfstream Park, a race track and retail center.

2010
In late 2010, Texas de Brazil opened the San Antonio location in the historic Kress building downtown. This location also featured the unique aerial wine artists, helping to appeal to RiverWalk guests.

2011
Tampa, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Puerto Rico & Trinidad – Continuing with aggressive growth, Texas de Brazil opened locations at MetWest in Tampa, downtown Detroit, and across from the Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale. The company also added international franchised locations for the first time in San Juan, Puerto Rico, near the convention center as well as in Port of Spain Trinidad.

2012
Yonkers, Salt Lake –Texas de Brazil opened locations in brand new shopping centers including Westchester’s Ridge Hill in Yonkers and City Creek Center in downtown Salt Lake.

2013
Columbus, Houston, Pittsburgh, Syracuse- The year started off with a bang as Columbus at Easton Town Center, Houston at City Centre, Pittsburgh at Station Square and Syracuse all opened within weeks of each other in exciting mixed used entertainment, dining and retail destinations.

2013
Texas de Brazil was named to Nation’s Restaurant News “Top 50 Breakout Brands” based on the concept’s ethnic cuisine, differentiated service and premium product quality.

2014
Texas de Brazil opened its first NYC location in February 2014, the first opening of 2014 as well. A location opened in Birmingham, Alabama at Birmingham’s Uptown entertainment district near to BJCC. The Birmingham location is the restaurants 30th location. Texas de Brazil opened its next locations in Buffalo, New York at the bustling and lively Walden Galleria and another location in Albany, New York at Crossgates Mall, a mecca for shopping.

The Experience

This Brazilian-inspired restaurant specializes in slow-roasted and perfectly seasoned cuts of beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and Brazilian sausage. This technique comes to the United States straight from Southern Brazil, where Gauchos (cowboys) prepare meals over a campfire.

At Texas de Brazil, the skilled gauchos journey through the restaurant with the grilled meats on sword-like skewers taken directly off the grill, stopping at each table to carve slices for diners.
